The Leasowe Autumn Club is a luncheon and activity club for the over 55’s; primarily for the Leasowe area but we do have clients from other areas,(Wallasey, Moreton, New Brighton). The club operates on 2 days per week at the moment:Wednesday and Friday. We use the community minibus for those clients who require transport to and from the club. The clients arrive at the club from 11am onwards and we begin our activities. Tea/Coffee is served on arrival and social intercourse commences. For some clients this is the only time they leave their homes. Our club provides a valuable service both to clients and families and carers alike. Once lunch is over we provide various activities to stimulate our clients. We invite on occasions guest speakers to discuss matters such as welfare rights and benefits, healthy eating, safety in the home etc. We also arrange day trips to different areas of the North West such as Blackpool and North Wales. We also try to organise an annual holiday. Currently the Club has 34 clients and operates from 11am to 3pm. These hours ensure that carers and family get in the region of 272 hours of respite per week whilst attending the Club.


The Club prepares and serves in the region of 70 meals per week for clients as well as providing meals to the volunteers who help run the Club. Currently there are 10 volunteer staff. The clients are well catered for and we strive to meet all their expectations. Special dietary needs are met and meals are prepared and sent out if required to those clients who cannot attend the Club due to illness etc.

Currently The Leasowe Autumn Club provide a minibus and volunteer driver to call and collect those members who require transport to the centre. The driver will collect clients from their home and return them after lunch, there is a small charge for this service. The Club also provide a volunteer driver for day trips during the summer months and local holiday breaks when required. Due to Government de-regulation, bus services to the estate are sporadic and expensive, this provides a barrier to many people. In order to maintain this vital lifeline to our clients, The Leasowe Autumn Club makes use of the minibus to get people to and from the Club.
